Sophie Teasdale
Chief Financial Officer/ Director of Support ServicesImmediately after my graduation from Newcastle University, I joined a graduate scheme in Banking. Following a spell in the City, I moved around the country in my role as a project manager which was immensely enjoyable. Further to a career break, I joined St Mary's College in 2006, after returning to Hull and East Riding with my young family. The role was a job share Partnership Development Manager; a Labour government funded initiative to drive up high quality, enrichment PE across all state funded schools. It was wonderful to be involved with the flagship school for PE in the area. I continued this role until 2012, when St Mary's received significant Building Schools for the Future funding, and I was asked to consider resuming my role as a project manager for the college. This was a decision that I have never looked back from.
I was involved in the formation of St Cuthbert's RC Academy Trust in 2014, and even though the conditions were not right for St Mary's to join at that point, it was extremely helpful to have the experience behind me when all the remaining Hull Catholic Schools academised in 2017. I was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2018 and in 2022 we welcomed 7 more Catholic Schools into the Trust from East Riding and North Yorkshire. My own formation and recently, my conversion to Catholicism, has deepened my understanding and love for Catholic education which I am privileged to be a part of. -
