Teacher Training

Vantage North Humber Teacher Training is coordinated by the Trust and St Mary's College.

We work with numerous primary and secondary partner schools across the region who provide placements which offer expert mentoring and support for our trainees.

Our strategic aims

Provide a high quality Initial Teacher Training (ITT) curriculum which is underpinned by the best available evidence in teacher development and meets the DFE requirements to the highest standard.
Deliver high-quality training which leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and produces confident, knowledgeable and effective Early Career Teachers (ECTs), well-placed to embed highly effective pedagogical habits and develop adaptive expertise.
Address regional recruitment needs whilst contributing to raising standards and improving pupil outcomes.
Secure high quality professional partnerships which bring together the best knowledge and expertise to contribute to the on-going development of our ITT programmes.

Teacher Development

The Vantage Teaching School Hub is a professional community of regional, national and international partners who provide training and development at all stages of your career in education.

Led by St Mary's College, at the heart of this partnership are the seven original East Riding & Hull Teaching Schools. Their representation from across the regional area provides the vantage point from which we map provision and training to meet the needs of the education workforce. This partnership and vantage point is reflected in our brand identity.

The Vantage Teaching School Hub playa a central role in the training and development of teachers throughout their career by providing evidence-based programmes and qualifications which follow the ‘golden thread’ of core content from Initial Teacher Training to National Professional Leadership Qualifications.

The Vantage Teaching School Hub helps to support teachers to progress through whichever career pathway they choose and will support the development of teachers working in all phases/types of school. Crucially, through our professional community we will ensure the core content is brought to life through deep, contextual understanding so that it speaks to teachers and leaders’ experiences across the region.

Together we will deliver the following core activities which make up the professional development entitlement of all teachers:

Delivery of the Early Career Framework (ECF);
Delivery of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs);
Delivery of Initial teacher training (ITT);
Providing Appropriate Body (AB) services for Early Career Teachers;
Other Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
