Flame 2025 - we are #Unstoppable
19th March 2025
Students and staff from the two secondary schools in the St Cuthbert’s Trust recently joined over 10,500 young Catholics at the Ovo Wembley Arena for Flame, the UK’s largest gathering of Catholic youth. This inspiring event, held in March, was a day filled with powerful moments of song, reflection, learning, praise, and joy. Bringing together young people from across the country, Flame provided an opportunity to deepen faith, celebrate community, and be inspired by dynamic speakers and uplifting worship. The theme for the day was #Unstoppable.
Lizzie Guiver, sixth form student at St Mary’s College in Hull reflects on her experience, “I attended Flame for the first time ever. Going into it, I didn’t know what to expect, only having to chosen to go after having it recommended to me by the lay Chaplaincy leaders at St Mary’s. To say I enjoyed myself is an understatement! The singers, the talks, the atmosphere was nothing like I expected but it was fantastic. It was fascinating to learn about other people’s experiences of Catholicism, my personal favourite being Bryan Enriquez talking about being a founding member of the Hallow app.
It was also an amazing opportunity to interact with people from all of the other UK dioceses. My sister is a member of the Hexham & Newcastle Diocese as she goes to university at Durham. I spent a considerable amount of time with her, which not only allowed me to catch up with her, but allowed me to meet her friends and interact with those outside my own diocese, which I don't get the chance to do often. It was an amazing day and I look forward to going again in the future!”
Angela Lees, staff member at St Augustine’s in Scarborough added, “I am so glad I volunteered to go along to Flame and have the chance to experience this wonderful gathering at Wembley. It was incredible to spend time with more than ten thousand young people who share the same interest in their faith. Flame was a great opportunity to offer an unforgettable experience to our students, which hopefully boosted their self-confidence and inspired them about their future. The students were great, and they said that they enjoyed their time at Flame, dancing and singing and being part of the large crowd.”
Ola Bradbeer of Our Lady & St Peter’s primary school in Bridlington summed the day up perfectly, “What can I say, what an uplifting day. It was spiritual and inspiring; I felt His presence throughout the day. I hope, I will be able to join you again, on 6th March 2027”.
